Overview

Content Approval, Not Just Registration

Publishing an online electronic game in Vietnam requires a government decision approving the game's content and script — an actual content review, not a formality.

Condition

The Condition

Enterprises are only granted a Decision approving the content and script of an electronic game once the game meets all the statutory conditions set out in the governing decrees.

  • The approval is a specific Decision tied to that game's content and script — not a general business license covering any game the company later publishes.
Fee

The Fee

Set under Circular 290/2016/TT-BTC, which governs appraisal fees for online electronic game content and scripts.

  • Fee for assessing the content and script of an online video game: 5,000,000 VND per dossier.
  • If the competent authority assesses the content and script but the game doesn't meet the prescribed conditions, the fee already paid is not refunded.
